This year’s kickoff luncheon not only featured the titular lunch, but also the speeches from the three candidates for International Vice President of ITE and a keynote from former Caltrans Director Randell Iwasaki.

The individual candidates delivered their speeches over the noise of the hungry crowd, each individual is highly qualified and filled with ideas on how to improve ITE on a large scale. I won’t attempt to describe their speeches any further than that here, but please check out each candidate’s website to further educate yourselves:

  • Troy A. Peoples
  • Ray Davis
  • Rock Miller

Following the candidates’ speeches was a keynote from former Caltrans director Randell Iwasaki. Randell discussed both the high and low points of directing such a large organization as Caltrans, how budget crises will affect the future of transportation, and what students have to look forward to as they begin their careers. His words were an inspiration to both students and professionals, and we thank him for his time.
