Get ready for a journey of growth with Explore ITE!  Develop personally and professionally by participating in activities that cover diverse aspects of being a young professional. 

What is the Badge Program?

Explore ITE challenges young professionals (35 years and younger) to expand their network and strengthen their technical expertise. Inspired by the Girl/Boy Scout “Badges”, participants who complete the program will be awarded a “badge”. The program will be an annual challenge with a unique badge for every year.    

How to Earn your Explorer Badge

To earn your Explorer badge, you must: 

  1. Attend a Section Meeting
  2. Complete two activities from the following three categories: Social Event, Professional Development, and Service. 

Choose activities that resonate with your interests and professional goals.  

Category 1: Section/Professional Chapter Meeting

This category must be completed by attending a section/professional Chapter Meeting. Student chapter meetings do not count for this category.  

Tip: Keep an eye out on the section/chapter’s newsletter to see when in-person & virtual meetings are happening.

Category 2a: Social Event

Complete this category by attending an event intended for social interaction and networking.  

Examples include: 

  • Happy Hours
  • Mixers
  • Student ITE Chapter Socials 

Category 2b: Professional Development

Check this category off by attending an event intended for learning and training to advance your career. 

Examples include: 

  • Seminars/Webinars
  • Workshops
  • Certifications
  • PDH/Classes
  • Attendance to the Western District Annual Meeting

Category 2c: Service

This category recognizes active contributions made to develop and promote transportation and the profession. 

Examples include: 

  • Participate in public engagements to raise awareness on transportation topics 
  • Speak to students about the profession 
  • Volunteer on an ITE committee, council, board, etc.
  • Become a mentor 
  • Participate in a STEM Outreach Program 
  • Submit Data for ITE Trip Generation  
  • Submit an Abstract to ITE 
  • Present at an ITE Event 

Tip: Reach out to any of your sections, chapters, or district on ways you can participate! 

Step 2: Track your completion by filling out the Badge Program Passport. Provide proof of completion by taking a photo at an event, uploading your event registration, etc. If an ITE-sponsored event falls under both categories (i.e. a Section Meeting with a social afterwards), it will only count towards one category, and you must provide proof of attending another event.    

Step 3: Challenge yourself to complete your three activities before May 31, 2026.

Participants who complete the challenge will receive a recognition badge and will be automatically entered into a drawing for a grand prize!   

Any activity completed between June 29, 2025 to May 31, 2026 qualifies for this challenge.
