The Western District is off to a busy start in the new year!

In January, I attended the Washington Section and San Francisco Bay Area Section meetings to install their new officers and to provide an overview of upcoming District activities. I look forward to opportunities to meet with more Sections and student chapters in our District this year.

Later this month, the Western District will be holding our Winter Board Meeting on January 27th in Oakland. We would like to welcome our new roster of Section Representatives who will be working with the Board on our District’s initiatives:

  • Alaska: Bradly Coy
  • Central California: Bryan Igarta
  • Central Coast: Vidhi Sachdeva
  • Hawaii: Jasmine Teramae-Kaehuaea
  • Northern California: Chris Gregerson
  • Oregon: Carl Olson
  • Riverside-San Bernardino: Steve Latino
  • San Diego: Joe Schultz
  • San Francisco Bay Area: Tony Henderson
  • Southern California: Dina Saleh
  • Washington: Darcy Akers

February will be packed with student events! Having started my time in ITE as a student member, it was very impactful for me to meet so many professionals and to receive guidance and support from them early in my transportation journey. I hope that you find time to engage with our student members at the Student Traffic Bowl and the Student Leadership Summit next month.

  • The 2023 Western District Student Traffic Bowl will be hosted virtually on February 11th. For our student teams, please remember to register by February 1st.
  • The USC, UC Irvine, and Cal State Fullerton student chapters will be co-hosting the 2023 Western District Student Leadership Summit on the USC campus from February 24-26th. The planning committee is still seeking sponsorships as well as volunteers to support activities, including networking events, resume workshops, and speed interviews.

As a reminder, the 2023 Joint International and Western District Annual Meeting will be in Portland, Oregon from August 13-16th. This year’s theme is Connecting People and Communities, and we hope to connect with many of you there!
