The ITE International Board of Direction (IBOD) met in conjunction with the Joint ITE International and Great Lakes District meeting in Detroit, Michigan. The meeting took place across July 17th and 18th.

During the official IBOD meeting, the Board took several important actions:

• Reviewed and adopted the 2025 audit (once again a clean audit), closing the book on finances from last year.
• Approved a new student chapter at Stevens Institute of Technology, within our Northeastern District purview.
• Approved the 2027-2029 ITE Strategic Plan with some minor modifications to language that will be incorporated into the final version. ITE will publish the plan and provide details in the November ITE Journal.

Other significant updates included:

• Continued to receive briefings on the Safety Roadmap & Action Plan and celebrated the fact that 21 of the 30 actions in the plan are now in progress (with a few nearing completion).
• Several Districts are working on updating their Strategic Plans, along with creating or building Safety Committees that are a huge help as we continue our safety emphasis.
• Continued to share best practices across the Districts, and shared ideas for solving problems or challenges that might be in progress across the Districts/Sections/Chapters.

Future International Annual Meetings

• July 25-28, 2027 – Calgary, Alberta (with ITE Canada District)
• July 23-26, 2028 – Albuquerque, NM (with ITE Mountain District)

Joint ITE International and Great Lakes District Annual Meeting

• The board participated in numerous activities across the four-day event and the meeting was deemed a huge success.
• Technical content was on display beginning with three great plenary sessions, eight workshops, 10 technical tours, five poster sessions, council showcase meetings, great idea groups, and so much more. This continues to be a highlight of International Annual Meetings.
• The engagement of students and young members continues to shine, including the Traffic Bowl International Championship, the NOCoE Transportation Technology Tournament, the Sandbox Competition, the 3-Minute Pitch competition, and dedicated networking opportunities.
• Speaking of networking, there were numerous opportunities for our community to gather and catch-up, including the Opening Reception, multiple extended breaks, the annual ITE Awards Luncheon, District and Section gatherings, and of course the Tuesday evening conference social at Ford Field.
