About the Session
The Western District Public Relations(PR) Committee has been working hard on developing plans for this upcoming year. And so the brilliant Career Guidance Committee thought that developing a short-term PR plan would make for a great team project and also help us get great ideas from our young professionals. Each group will work together as a PR Committee of volunteers, as most District committees operate, and will develop a plan of action for the Committee.
So what is the PR Committee and what do they do? The mission of the committee is to inform the public about ITE and promote the successes of ITE and its members through proactive and coordinated public relations and outreach. Having strong, positive public relations ensures that the public knows the important role that transportation professionals play in improving our quality of life and enhances the credibility of ITE members.
The session will allow for 30 minutes of group working time with a possible surprise midway. Each group will give a short presentation on their plan to our panel. The last portion of the session will focus on a large group discussion of both the ideas for the PR Committee and the lessons learned.
The Outcome
The goal of this session is to share ideas, connect with other young professionals, and work as a team to complete a task. Young professionals will be tackling a project that requires them to step into different roles and work with individuals from different backgrounds with varying ideas. In addition, the session will challenge them to define and complete tasks with small budgets and volunteers.
By using a District committee as the focus of this session, we hope that our young professionals will emerge with a better understanding of how our committees operate and how much effort it takes to make ITE a successful organization. We also hope that this session will inspire our young professionals to be more involved and engaged in our organization.
Make sure to check your program when you arrive in Albuquerque and we look forward to seeing you at one or more of our Career Guidance sessions.
