IBOD Meeting Summary August 2025

The ITE International Board of Direction (IBOD) held a 2-day meeting coincident with the Joint ITE and Florida Puerto Rico District Annual Meeting and Exhibition.  The IBOD meeting took place on Aug 8-9 at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando, FL.

The Board took several important actions:

  • Discussed best practices for managing District/Section finances, avoiding fraud, and taking steps to be prepared as the banking industry increases its scrutiny of organizations.
  • The Board approved the audit of 2024 finances (unqualified audit – no concerns) and received an update on mid-year financial performance for 2025 showing everything still on-track per the budget.
  • After a presentation from an external task force, the Board approved the creation of a new Private Sector Council, which will be born from a merger of the prior Consultants Council and Industry Council.  This employer-based council will not focus on technical issues but instead will function as a comparable sister group to the Public Agency Council.  Look for more information on this coming soon.

Significant updates included:

  • ITE announced the new Trip Generation 12th Edition, which includes a number of new land use categories and lots of new data points. More information is available here.
  • Based on recommendations from a board-level working group, the Board adopted a change in nomenclature for our named International Awards.  An updated list will be published soon.
  • Several Districts are offering CM credits in addition to PDH credits, further demonstrating that technical programs geared toward planning are taking place.
  • The Board received a briefing on the Safety Roadmap and Action Plan, where 12 of the 30 new initiatives are already in motion.  ITE is looking for at least 100 new volunteers to help us get additional projects underway, you can learn more or volunteer here.
