The University of Washington Student Chapter has been award the ITE Student Chapter Momentum Award! Please join us in congratulating the team that has been instrumental to the success of the student chapter. The Student Funding Initiatives Committee is expected to support student chapters to continue to grow! Well deserved and excited to see all that the student chapter will continue to do.

Below are a couple of thoughts and words of advice from Jonah Lorica, the 2023-2024 Co-President of the University of Washington ITE Student Chapter.

  • What was your teams’ strategy in developing this report?
    • For this report, we wanted to create a powerful narrative that highlighted that momentous school year we had. In our report, we explained our motivations, our goals, the things we did to meet our goals, and the results of our decision making. In the end, I think our report captured the feeling of momentum our chapter created this year while being clear and concise.
  • How did the past year compare to your expectations.
    • I did not expect to be as successful as we were restarting the student chapter. The success of the chapter was a total team effort and everyone involved has grown throughout the past school year. Most of the officers have never held a leadership position before, and now with the experience from this past school year, I think the club is in a stronger position than ever before and will only continue to grow.
  • Anything else may help inspire other clubs!
    • In our report we mentioned that transportation connects us to people, places, and opportunities. Personally, ITE has been that vehicle for me throughout my time in university, connecting me with peers across the world, bringing me to places I’ve never seen before, and connecting me to career opportunities I might have never known about. ITE is a great organization to be a part of and I believe you truly get more out of it when you invest your time in it.
