Among the honorees were Individual Achievement Award recipient John Fisher, who was selected for his continuing contributions to the California Traffic Control Devices Committee, the National Committee on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and the ITE Journal. Lifetime Achievement Award recipient James Sparks spent his career shepherding the development of the transportation infrastructure in one of the West’s largest cities, Phoenix, Arizona, including innovations in reversible lanes, traffic signal interconnectivity, and Safe Routes to School. Paul Box was posthumously awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for his service to the transportation profession, including 120 technical papers, serving on and chairing over 50 committees, and receiving over 20 awards for his work, most notably developing four ITE recommended practice documents.
