As general chair, I’d like to invite you to the first ever Western District ITE Student Leadership Summit, to be held in San Luis Obispo, CA, February 15-17, 2014.  The Summit will be hosted by the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Cal Poly Student Chapter.

This will be a weekend for students from 35 colleges and universities across the ITE Western District to learn skills that will help them to become leaders in the Transportation Engineering profession, build and strengthen relationships among students, and expand their professional network. There will be presentations from leading professionals in the industry as well as leadership workshops and fun transportation engineering-related activities. Conference modules will include Professional Leadership, Engineering Ethics, Emerging Technologies, and Networking Opportunities.

The event starts at 11:00 am Saturday, February 15, and ends at noon Monday, February 17.  At the Saturday evening Welcome Dinner, Randy Iwasaki will speak about his experiences at Caltrans and the Contra Costa Transit Authority.  Sunday’s schedule includes leadership sessions, an ethics presentation, a resume and interview workshop, and dinner in Downtown San Luis Obispo.  Monday’s schedule includes a leadership discussion and a wrap-up activity.  The program schedule can be viewed here.

Registration is $40 for the weekend, plus the cost of dinner on Sunday night in downtown San Luis Obispo.  Registration includes access to all the leadership sessions, meals for the entire weekend, (excluding the special dinner Sunday night), a t-shirt, summit materials, and your resume on a CD that is sent to all sponsoring companies.   The menu for the special Sunday dinner is on the registration website.  Register today here.

Our planning committee has been working very hard to make this event something truly special and memorable. This is going to be a fantastic event that students won’t want to miss.   If you have any questions or would like more information about the event please contact Daniel Foye.  Thank you and we all look forward to meeting in February!
