President’s Message: July 2010

Learn, Share, Act, Have Fun

The San Francisco meeting was a great success and I commend the efforts of the LAC in putting together such a WOW meeting. On behalf of the Western District, I thank all attendees, vendors, sponsors, and volunteers for contributing to the success of the meeting. In July 2011, the Western District will once again convene to learn, share and act upon the things that we know best: learn and share technical knowledge, have a little fun and then go and do amazing things together and individually.

Next year the meeting will be in Anchorage, Alaska and we need everyone to COMMIT to attend. So start planning NOW and put aside a little cash each month so when the time comes, you will be READY to come and meet with the rest of us. The Alaska Local Arrangements Committee (Alaska LAC) is working hard to have a great meeting program for us and has offered a $25 discount to the first 100 folks that respond with an email to me committing to attending the meeting. The deadline for this commitment has been extended until August 15th. Many of you have already responded and need not send me another email. Those that have not yet responded please send me an email Edgar.Perez@Parsons.com with the subject line “ITE Alaska, I Commit”.

In order to better serve your needs and preferences, we would like you to respond to a survey so that the Alaska LAC can enhance the planning efforts for the July 2011 meeting.

Please go to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/westernitefeedback and respond to this survey by August 15, 2010.

As your new President I am excited to be able to meet many more members of the District and to work with the new student members and leaders. I feel the excitement that the students have about ITE and we want to continue promoting the student programs so the students will keep on with ITE as professionals.  Thanks to your contributions, the Student Endowment fund has hit its halfway mark and we need to continue our efforts to further grow this fund to meet the $½ million goal for the students benefit. The Western District board will continue to emphasize the growth of this fund, spend money wisely and find innovative ways to better serve our members. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you. We will work hard to serve you well but we also ask you to please do your part by volunteering to serve at the local and/or District level.  We look forward to visiting many of you at your local section or chapter meetings.
