President’s Message

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season with their family and friends.

As of January 1, 2020, we are now officially the Western District consisting of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, and Hawaii. I’d like to also officially welcome the Mountain District to ITE. It has been a long 1.5 years in the making and I’d like to thank the Western District Board for their extra efforts as we’ve worked through this process.

We are kicking off the New Year with our Mid-Year Board Meeting to be held on January 31st in Orange County, California. Topics for discussion at the Mid-Year Board Meeting include updates from all officers and chairs for their respective positions since the June 2019 Annual Board Meeting as well as discussion on District administration and voting on any policy changes, nominations for candidates for District office and awards, coordination and planning for upcoming and future annual meetings, and discussion on initiatives for the coming year. This Board Meeting will also be the first meeting with Section Representatives and we are looking forward to working more closely with our Sections through this new Board Structure.

Most of the Executive Board will also be attending the 2020 Student Leadership Summit after the Mid-Year Board Meeting and we are hoping to see many of you there!

For those of you who have submitted abstracts for the 2020 Annual Meeting, you will be notified if your abstract was selected by the end of February. Thank you to the Hawaii and SoCal Section LAC volunteers working hard on the Annual Meeting. We’re looking forward to the meeting!
