President’s Message

The year has started off with quite a few visits to our Sections and Chapters. Thank you to Central California, Idaho, Riverside San Bernardino, Central Coast, Southern California, and San Diego Sections/Chapters for hosting me this past month. I am looking forward to wrapping up this month’s travel with a visit to the Arizona Section.

We also held our September board meeting where we reviewed the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 budgets and brought our new Secretary-Treasurer, Giancarlo Ganddini, on-board and hopefully prepared him for the work to come.

The Western District OneITE Task Force has been working to meet with all our Sections and Chapters to get input on the OneITE Initiative. We hope that many of you were able to participate in these meetings to get more information on the Initiative and also provide comments to your elected leadership. We have asked each Section and Chapter President to provide us with formal comments by October 5th. The Task Force is also working on a framework for the transition plan which will be submitted to the International Board of Direction at the October meeting in Arizona.

This coming year will entail a lot of change and I will do my best to keep you informed of the progress we’re making with the OneITE Initiative as well as enhancing our social media presence and all the wonderful upcoming events. Speaking of which, it’s not too early to plan for the Student Leadership Summit to be held at UC Berkeley in January (https://ite.berkeley.edu/sls-2019/). The 2019 SLS will be held in conjunction with the Western District Midyear Board Meeting which will hopefully provide our students more interactions with our board members and chairs.
