It’s with mixed feelings I am writing my final E-News President’s Message. I’d be lying if I said it won’t be nice to have one less thing on my to-do list, but it’s also been a wonderful year and it’s sad to see it come to an end.
The upside is that it will be ending at our historic joint annual meeting of the Western and Midwestern districts in Rapid City! I’ve visited there before and I’m excited to share with my family all of the fabulous natural and man-made attractions in the area. Maybe you’ve been lucky (ha!) enough to see some of my vacation photos of Devil’s Tower, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, and the Badlands. If you are going to the meeting, be sure to come prepared to go all-in on your banquet costume (theme: Western/Presidential/Biker or any combination of the three). The Midwesterners do not engage in such shenanigans at their annual meetings, so we want to give them a good taste of what we do.
Ending a term as president, you find yourself hoping that at the very minimum, you’ve kept the organization from collapsing or going into financial ruin. But preferably, you hope you’ve made a positive mark on the group that will take root and flourish. Thank you for allowing me to serve you as your President.
