President’s Message

Michael Sanderson, P.E., PTOE

Western District Members,

Recently the Western District Board of Directors held its mid-year meeting in Las Vegas. I want to thank all of the board members, committee chairs, and section and chapter leaders that attended for all of your hard work and dedication.  We had a very productive meeting conducting the business of the Western District.

During the meeting, the Board approved the slate of candidates for the 2010-2011 year. Current officers Edgar Perez and Alyssa Reynolds were each nominated for their next step up the ladder.  The board nominated Walter Okitsu and Doug Smith to run for Secretary-Treasurer.  The board also nominated Jennifer Rosales and Nate Larson to run for a 3-year term as International Director.  The District is in good hands when we can put forth a quality slate of dedicated ITE members such as this. Congratulations to you all and good luck.

In conjunction with the board meeting, the Western District executive board held a meeting to discuss and update the District’s strategic plan.  Many of you responded to a survey that we circulated to the membership a few months back.  The survey asked you to comment on the District’s current strategic priorities. Thanks to all that responded to the survey, your thoughtful input was helpful and will be instrumental in shaping our priorities for the future. The fact that the survey has closed should not discourage you from voicing your opinion about the District’s strategic direction. Please email me at msanderson@sandersonstewart.com and let me know if you have suggestions or concerns.  I welcome your comments.

I want to remind everyone to mark your calendars for June 27-30. The Western District annual meeting in San Francisco is shaping up to be a great meeting.  The MiteY Race will be a new and exciting event on Sunday, June 27 that you won’t want to miss.  Monday’s family night event will include an ITE tailgate party and tickets to the Giants vs. Dodgers game at AT&T Park.  Check out the meeting website for more information.  Thank you to the San Francisco local arrangements committee for all of its effort.  See you in San Francisco!
