Sticking Together in Alaska
The Alaska LAC is planning a “Duct Tape Ball” to take place on Tuesday night during the 2011 ITE Western District Conference to be held in Alaska on July 10-13. The idea of using duct tape is to celebrate Alaska as the highest user of duct tape in the nation. More information to come regarding the Duct Tape Ball; however, I want to remind everyone to book your room at the Hilton Anchorage early, http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hotel/ANCAHHF-Hilton-Anchorage-Alaska/index.do using code “ITE”. Alaska is a high season destination in July and booking early will avoid problems. Registration to attend the conference will be held to less than $400 for full registration and vendors and meeting sponsors are wanted. Please stay tuned and be on the lookout for more information from the Alaska LAC.
Amazing Things Happening at the Local Level
As President, I continue to enjoy visiting the different Sections and Chapters throughout the District. It is amazing to realize the enthusiasm and tremendous amount of work that takes place at the local Sections and Chapters level. I am certainly proud to be part of an organization that provides the forums needed to make a difference in our communities and in the lives of many. And even more amazing is the fact that all is done through the service of volunteers!!! If you have recently, are currently or ever been a volunteer with ITE, I THANK YOU!!! There are many ways to continue making ITE the Professional Organization of choice. Please continue to volunteer to serve in boards, committees, task forces, conferences, etc. Your services as a leader, sponsor or vendor are much needed and appreciated. THANK YOU!!! for your dedication and commitment to ITE and the Western District.
WesternITE Website Enhancement
You have probably noticed that our website has a new improved face now. Thanks to the WesternITE committee which met in early October, 2010 the website is undergoing a face lift and improving to attract more visitors and business announcements. Nathan Mustafa, our Webmaster, is doing a tremendous job at making sure the website is updated using the latest technology to provide the best service to our members and visitors. Please visit www.westernite.org to access the Alaska LAC news, the Student Endowment Fund, the WesternITE Calendar, the WesternITE Online Newsletter, Jobs, Leadership Directory, etc.
As a bonus to our members seeking new job opportunities, the Western District would like to offer a FREE RESUME SERVICE. This service will be in place for a limited time so feel free to mail your resumes to Nathan Mustafa at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will post resumes with a special link from the main Home Page so that prospective employers can easily find you.
The “Best of the Best of the West” will take place next year and will showcase the best 10 papers on projects within our District. The deadline for submitting your paper is April, 2011.
Western District Officer Positions
Since Michael Sanderson, our current Past President of the Western District will be taking over the position of International Director in early January, 2011 the position of Past President will be temporarily filled by Monica Suter, our second Past President.
Please join me once again to congratulate Michael Sanderson for his new appointment as International Director, and welcome back Monica Suter to the board to serve as District Past President.
Happy Thanksgiving, may all of you enjoy peace and happiness with your love ones.
