DEFINITION

To perform professional and technical engineering work in assigned area of responsibility including, but not limited to design, land development, traffic engineering or capital improvements and to participate in the activities of a major engineering unit within the engineering division and/or to serve as project manager on a major engineering project; and to perform the more complex professional and technical engineering tasks within the unit.

Experience and Training

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:

Three years of increasingly responsible experience performing duties similar to an Assistant Engineer with the City of Davis.

Training:

Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.
