By Walter Okitsu, International Director
The International Board met at ITE’s headquarters in Washington, DC in early January. Institute staff reported that total combined voting membership and non-voting student membership was on the verge of exceeding the goal of 15,000. Financially, the Institute was rebuilding its reserves after showing heavy losses in 2015 and a slight loss in 2016. Preliminary numbers indicate 2017 was very successful due to significant sales of Trip Generation 10th Edition, a well-attended Annual Meeting in Toronto, and contract work (mostly Federal).
International President Michael Sanderson created a Board committee on Diversity and Inclusiveness to be chaired by Alyssa Rodriguez, former International Director for Western District. President Sanderson also announced the new “One ITE” initiative, with the intent of meeting Strategic Goal C-1 of the Strategic Plan. Under One ITE, the Institute will maximize and provide consistent ITE membership experience regardless of geographic location through successful program delivery by Districts, Sections, and Chapters. International Directors Karen Aspelin and I will participate in the task force that will define the One ITE initative’s actions in the coming months.
The International Board will meet next at Jackson Wyoming in conjunction with the Intermountain Section Meeting in mid-May, 2018.
