W-Trans is seeking an experienced Project Manager to prepare and oversee a diverse range of transportation-related products to our expanding client base. W-Trans provides traffic engineering and transportation planning services throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and California, specializing in projects that balance the need to provide vehicular capacity with the desire to create more livable streets and sustainable transportation systems which serve all modes of transportation. W-Trans currently has offices in downtown Santa Rosa (Sonoma County) and downtown Oakland; the successful candidate would have the choice of working in either location.
W-Trans prides itself on maintaining a highly-collaborative workplace, and the successful candidate would both manage and work alongside other staff members in both offices, directly overseeing staff members preparing smaller traffic impact studies while also managing and serving as lead contact on major projects such as Complete Street Plans, General Plans, Specific Plans, and EIRs. THE POSITION: One opening is currently available in the Traffic Engineering Division. Under the supervision of the Traffic Engineer, the selected person will assume a variety of responsibilities and perform a wide range of tasks including, but not limited to, performing isolated and coordinated signal timing; collecting and analyzing data in the field and in the office and neatly documenting raw data and results; evaluating of and responding to requests from the public regarding traffic safety and operation issues such as signage, markings, striping, parking and traffic calming; conducting warrant analyses for traffic signals, stop signs and other traffic control devices; making recommendations and drafting of work orders for traffic improvements; preparing written responses and reports; preparing and reviewing traffic control plans; reviewing CIP and private development plans; reviewing traffic impact studies; preparing Engineering & Traffic surveys; regularly analyzing recurring crash patterns and developing solutions to address traffic safety issues; drafting reports, exhibits and presentations for Traffic Commission and City Council meetings; maintaining files, records and databases; attending meetings as required; and other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: A typical qualifying entrance background is a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field; and experience performing responsible journey-level professional traffic engineering work.

Perform maintenance, repair, modification, inspection and operation of traffic signals and lighting; as well as maintain records and prepare reports for these activities.
Education & Experience:
A typical way to gain the skills required for success in the position is the equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by training in and two years experience in construction and/or maintenance of traffic signal and lighting systems.
This position requires possession of Certification for Traffic Signal Technician Level I through IMSA within one year of starting in the position.

Monthly Salary Range: $6,006 – $8,212
Oversees and supervises the operational aspects of the traffic engineering division to ensure safe and efficient movement of vehicle and pedestrian traffic throughout the City of Arvada in the most economical manner available. Oversees and supervises the traffic engineering aspects of the division to ensure that signal design, street design and development review aspects are technically sound and appropriate.
Minimum Education or Formal Training and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required.
- Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in the field of Traffic Engineering with at least five (5) years of supervisory experience required.
- Professional engineer license preferred.

This position is key in leading Fremont’s transformation from a suburban to strategically urban community with a focus on facilitating all modes of transportation including bicycles, pedestrians, and transit. The position willmanage traffic engineering projects, studies of the City’s traffic signal system, serve as project manager, supervise and participate in the performance of a variety of transportation studies, and act as City liaison with intergovernmental agencies, and on project development teams for regional transportation projects.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Transportation or Civil Engineering, five years progressively responsible transportation engineering work. Work experience in a governmental/municipal setting is highly desirable.
Possess valid California State Board registration as a traffic or civil engineer. Dual registration is highly desirable.
Possess a valid Class C California Driver’s License.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The annual salary is $108,329.17 – $146,229.22 DOQ and an excellent benefits package.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be comfortable delivering presentations to small and large groups, including executive level management.
- Experience assessing and evaluating new market opportunities and developing business plans for new initiatives.
- Experience in developing successful partnering approaches (strategic relationships, licensing)
- Excellent influencing and negotiating skills.
- MBA or engineering graduate degree is a plus
