In this challenging position, you will prepare and supervise the preparation and/or review of plans, specifications, and estimates for traffic system projects; prepare, review, and research materials for the preparation of various reports; perform analyses and computations of traffic impact from development projects; prepare reports on traffic engineering matters, such as accident analyses, traffic volume, speed studies, and pedestrian and bicycle studies; review and evaluate traffic and parking studies; review and recommend modifications and alternatives to contract documents and change orders; manage the construction, operation, and contractual requirements of various traffic system projects, including traffic signals, communications systems, traffic signs, and pavement markings; coordinate and communicate with various sections related to roadway projects and programs; prepare staff reports; present and represent staff before the City Council and other boards, commissions, and committees; supervise, train, and evaluate employees; make effective recommendations regarding hiring, promotions, and transfers; effectively recommend disciplinary action as needed, up to and including termination; and drive on City business.
Requirements include graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Traffic Engineering or Traffic Systems; four years of professional civil engineering experience, of which two years are in the field of Traffic Engineering design, planning, and operations OR any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance as determined by the City. A valid California Class “C” driver’s license or equivalent, and registration in the State of California as a Professional Civil or Traffic Engineer are required at the time of appointment and throughout period of employment. The physical ability to walk on uneven work surfaces, and stand or sit to effectively discharge the essential functions of this position is also needed.
We offer a starting salary of $8,130 to $9,878 per month plus superb benefits including City-contributed retirement plan, cafeteria-style health benefits, and tuition reimbursement. Traffic Project Manager
LIN Consulting is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Traffic Project Manager in our Diamond Bar, CA office. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the areas of traffic engineering design.
The Traffic Project Manager will be responsible for project/task management, schedule and budget control, plan and report production and review, quality control, and marketing activities. Specific projects may include traffic signal design, traffic signal system design, worksite traffic control plans, ITS design, traffic studies, traffic impact analysis, and traffic management plans. Experience with Caltrans PS&E is highly desirable.

Principal Traffic Engineer
Primary responsibility is for the operation and maintenance of the central traffic signal computer system that includes the TransCore central traffic signal control, Microsoft Windows Server Operating System, Oracle Relational Database, Windows Office, Synchro and Tru-Traffic2 Traffic Signal Timing Optimization, and other related software applications. Maintain and operate the servers and workstations that run the software operating system and applications. Performs other professional traffic engineering duties common to a municipal traffic engineer.
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field preferred. College-level course work in Traffic Engineering disciplines such as geometric design, traffic signal design, traffic signal timing, communications infrastructure design, and project management may be considered an acceptable substitute.
A minimum of five years experience in general traffic engineering activities. Three years in a responsible position (in charge of) traffic engineering related design/review and construction projects.
One year of experience in personnel supervision.
A valid driver’s license and a good driving record are required. Ability to obtain a professional engineering license within one year of hire is preferred. Ability to obtain a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer Certificate is preferred.

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is recruiting for two Manager I – Professional Engineer positions. Both recruitments are for permanent, full time positions located at the District III Office in Elko, NV. Professional Engineer Managers plan, coordinate and oversee projects, programs and contracts/agreements and perform licensed professional engineering functions.
Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of employment and as a condition of continuing employment. A person who is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become a licensed Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of continuing employment.
The current yearly salary range is $64,707.12 to $97,593.12
Incumbents function as construction project managers within a district. Plan/direct all aspects of contract administration, to include: directing changes in contract plans and specifications; preparation of progress estimates; monitoring contractor work; coordinating project activities between contractor personnel, staff personnel, district personnel and other division staff; ensuring project safety; determining contractor compliance with contractual requirements; authorization of payment of contractor; and preparation of documentation to support department’s position on claims filed against contract.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
